Name: Helle
Country: Denmark
Very clean and charming bedroom with 2 beds in the centre of Vinales
You might hear about a lot of casas in Vinales, but some Cuban families need your business more than others… If you would really like to help a very nice and humble family and be treated like royalty without being made to feel like a cash cow, read on… We stayed with families who had cleaners, cooks, Mac books and Iphones. Tati and family have none of these luxuries that other casa owners seem to have, and therefore we felt that we were putting money into the right pockets while staying with them.
Tati had serious surgery over a year ago and is recovered now, but started this business to help out her family. Having worked in a hotel she is used to interacting with tourists although she does not speak English. She is very sweet and generous, and needs your custom.
Tati and her husband rent out a very clean and adorable bedroom with a double bed and a single bed, on Calle Mongo Coro, just blocks away from the center of Vinales village. Tati’s mother Anna prepares traditional Cuban meals. There is also a lovely and shy 4 year-old grandson. This is a wonderful family atmosphere with a nice and peaceful environment.
The bedroom and their flat are impeccably clean, and the room has a private bathroom with its own sink, toilet and shower with hot and cold water. The room is nicely fresh with its own ventilator and naturally gets a pleasant breeze due to its elevated position. By the time you read this, an air-conditioning unit should also have been installed.
There is a small closet in the room with hangers and there is a beautiful view of the hills and Hotel Ermita. Guests have full access to the living room, backyard and television. There is a private fridge dedicated to guests, stocked with drinks and available to store own food. Guests can choose what they would like to eat and at the time of the day they wish. Ana is totally flexible on schedule.
This is an official and legal Casa Particular registered with the Cuban government.
Tati will pick you up at the Viazul bus stop. But beware many locals looking for tourists to stay with them can be quite aggressive in trying to persuade you to go to go to their house instead. Arrange with Tati in advance by calling her or walk the 3-4 minutes to her house.
Tati and Ana can also arrange any excursions such as horseback riding, bike renting, hikes, beach trips, tobacco plantation tours and more.
Where room prices are normally 25cuc’s in Vinales, Tati charges 15 to 20 CUC’s per night and students can negotiate, as Tati understands budget constraints and they really need the business from tourists.
Breakfast is 3 to 4 CUC and Dinner about 8 CUC. |
