Casa Aurora y Nelson
My review: 'Aurora y Nelson' is a perfect casa particular to spend some days/nights in Havana. It is in a safe district, not far from the city centre, in a pretty quiet and calm area.
Downtown is about 30-45 mins walk by feet (5 mins by taxi).
Aurora and her sons helped a lot in planning my trip across Cuba, also adviced sightseeing possibilities within the city.
The bedroom was big, clean and lighty with its own small balcony and fridge. We stayed with 4 persons there, no complaint at all.
I could use Aurora's own balcony (beautiful, big and cozy) for having some rest or just to talk to the family.
Breakfast was good, I liked the guayaba smoothie! :-)
My friends and I had great time in Aurora's casa. I would recommend it for everyone who would like to spend the nights in Havana in a safe area, not in the noisier city centre.
This casa is just next to the John Lennon Park, so you can start your walk to the centre with checking John sitting on a bench with cigar in his hand and sunglasses on his head. :-)

My review: Upon Arrival in Havana for our 15 day stay, after 30 + hours with ne sleep. we were pleased to see a sign with our names greeting us at the airport. I had corresponded with Aurora several times by e-mail, giving her the flight, time , terminal and airline information. Just as discussed, someone was there to pick us up; a very lovely young man named Isaac. He helped us with money exchange and drove to the casa. We were exhausted and somewhat taken aback when we saw the house and discovered it was on the third floor, atop some decrepit stairs. When the door was opened, Aurora immediately told Isaac in Spanish, "Oh no, I didn't know they were black, They cannot stay here". We left. Isaac called Aurora several times to get her to relent, to no avail. She did refer us t! o another casa that was very clean and lovely, but it did not fit our needs. Aurora's casa was dingy, looked dirty and did not resemble the pictures on the internet,
After several hours of searching, and much embarrasment to Isaac, a cab driver in front of the Riviera Hotel, gave us a lead, As we walked into the very lovely home where we were accepted, Aurora called Isaac and told him that she would let us stay there. We payed non-refundable deposit and Aurora's place was a dump and she was a bigot, in my opinion.
I gave them one star because zero stars was not an option.
Casa specifics: Smelly

Other comments: It seems that owners sometimes write their own reviews, so be careful.
